4th Regional Annual CTHEZP Congress

The Council of Tourism and Hospitality Educators of Zamboanga Peninsula (CTHEZP) held its 4th Regional Annual CTHEZP Congress on August 1-2, 2014. The theme for this year is: “Facing Challenges of the Asian Integration 2015” and the competitions were held at the MCLL Gym of the ZSCMST at Fort Pilar and at the HRM Laboratory of Pilar College at R.T. Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City. The ZSCMST was awarded the Overall 1st Runner-up in Skills Competition 2014. Five out of ten (5/10) events were won by the CHRM of the ZSCMST.

Bachelor of Science in Education Organization (BSEO)

baseoThe Bachelor of Science in Education Organization (BSEO) used PhP100,000.00 of its funds in repainting the CELA Building. The BSEO also purchased 31 copies of various LET reviewers, 160 units of arm chairs, 1 unit photocopier machine, 1 unit AVR for photocopier machine, 24 reams of photo paper, 5 boxes of TLE tool box, 1 unit cork board, 3 units Infocus projectors (without screen), 1 unit Infocus projector (with screen), 30 units wall fans, and additional LET reviewers from the Philippine Normal University and textbooks from the National Book Store worth PhP10,015.00.

The BSEO is also funding the construction of the CELA Student Center, beside the Main Library, where the ground breaking was held on the 4th of July 2014.

CELA Pinning Ceremony 2014

pinning 2014The College of Education and Liberal Arts (CELA) initiated the signing of a MOA between the ZSCMST and DepEd for the Pre-service Teachers on June 18, 2014; on July 01, 2014 the CELA Dean with three Program Advisers for TLE, BS/PS, and English conducted consultation on selected National High Schools prior to deployment of pre-service teachers on July 01, 2014; on July 09, 2014 a Pinning Ceremony of the pre-service teachers was held at the Astoria Plaza of the Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.

Engaging Teacher Educators in Evaluation Reforms

celaThe College of Education and Liberal Arts (CELA) also conducted a seminar on “Engaging Teacher Educators in Evaluation Reforms” that was attended by all CELA faculty members and was held at the ZSCMST AVR on July 10, 2014. The topics covered were the following:

  1. Outcome-Based Education
  2. Key Assessment to measure outcomes
  3. Opportunities for teachers in relation to Research Presentations, Partnerships and Generating Pride for Programs and Outcomes.

The speaker of the seminar was Dr. Sylvia R. Taube, an Associate Professor in Curriculum and Instruction at Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas, U.S.A.

FOOD (Food On Our Dining) Updates and TEA (Training Exposure Assessment) Time

_CSC0112The College of Fisheries and Applied Sciences (CFAS), in collaboration with the Research and Development Office (RDO) and the Academic Services (AS) – Job Immersion and Graduate Placement Assistance Unit, conducted a back-to-back seminar on “FOOD (Food On Our Dining) Updates and TEA (Training Exposure Assessment) Time” on July 30, 2014. Dia del Presidente (ZSCMST President’s Birthday)

_DSC0392The ZSCMST celebrated the birthday of the College President by having a Mass Blood Donation for the Philippine National Red Cross. The activity was held at the MCLL Gym on July 28, 2014 and was jointly sponsored by the Physical Education Society (PES), Supreme Student Council (SSC), Mast Chronicle, Social Science Club, HRM Society, Young Sailors Club, BSEO, NSTP, and ROTC Unit.
